Shovelers in Bhigwan

Its been long since I planned a birding trip away from my usual gang. I knew it wouldn’t do to just travel for work and not combine bird watching trip. And so Bhigwan happened. Thanks to Neha and her husband the travel was made easy and thanks to Ashish, I got a recommendation for a tour operator since a large part of the bird watching in on the lake using a boat. I was hoping for re-acclimatising myself to water birds. Little did I expect that the trip would give be a whopping 70 birds list . Admittedly we did not find the star, Ruff but we luckily did spot a lonely flamingo, early one in the season. Although I must admit 80% of the number of birds were simply Shovelers and Coots. I don’t think I have ever encountered these many before. It was great fun watching these birds. This trip and a chance to closely observe Shovelers inspired me to make these artworks.
